World Bank continues to support Vietnam’s development

(VOVworld) – During a reception for World Bank President Jim Yong Kim on Tuesday Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said Vietnam will accelerate its reforms towards becoming a modern industrial nation. He said that Vietnam’s primary task will be improving the quality of growth, productivity, and economic competitiveness in addition to restructuring state-owned enterprises, resolving bad debts, and addressing public debt.

He asked the World Bank to help Vietnam weather challenges, particularly during its international economic integration and those caused by climate change. He also asked the Bank and President Kim to help Vietnam access preferential loans from the International Development Association.

President Kim said the World Bank will continue to persuade international financial institutions to help Vietnam step up economic reforms, stabilize the macro-economy, deal with climate change, and achieve its development goals.
