(VOVworld) – World media, experts, and politicians have continued to express concerns over China’s actions to raise tensions in the East Sea.

US National Security Advisor Susan Rice said on Wednesday in Washington that the US is working with ASEAN to advance a code of conduct for the East Sea that would enhance maritime security, reinforce international law, and strengthen the regional rules of the road. She said “the US security relies on defining and upholding rules that govern our shared spaces—rules that reject aggression, impede the ability of large nations to bully smaller ones, and establish ways to resolve conflicts peacefully.”

Japan and Australia on Wednesday released a joint statement stressing the importance of respecting international law and rejecting the use of force to change the status quos.

Rory Medcalf, Director of the International Security Program at Australia’s Lowy Institute, warned of a China’s illegal construction program in Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago to strengthen its military power in the sea and create basis to rationalize its presence on areas it occupied by force.
The AP posted Vietnamese Ambassador to the UN Le Hoai Trung's interview with international media on June 10. Mr. Trung made clear Vietnam's request to China to withdraw its oil rig Haiyang 981 and more than 100 escort vessels from Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf to create conditions for negotiations on the East Sea differences.
