(VOVworld) - The 12th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) opened in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Tuesday to discuss the economic challenges, opportunities, and development trends of Islamic countries.

Participants will also study the crucial role of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in driving economic growth. Major topics for discussion include: infrastructure development, the financial integration of Islamic countries, the expansion of the global Halal food industry, the development of the global Islamic fashion industry, improving funding access for MSMEs, and integrating MSMEs into digitised trade.
The forum, hosted by the WIEF fund and the Indonesian government, is attended by 2,500 participants and 100 state leaders. It will conclude on Thursday.
