Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu warned that the conflict in Libya could escalate into a ‘Syria-like’ crisis. Mr. Cavusoglu met the main opposition party's leader in Libya on Monday to discuss a possible Turkish military deployment in Libya.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi told French President Emmanuel Macron during a phone call on Sunday that the focus needs to be on restoring safety and stability in Libya, supporting anti-terrorism efforts, undermining the activities of armed militias, and putting an end to foreign interference in Libya's domestic affairs. Mr. al-Sisi previously discussed Libya with the leaders of the US, Italy, Germany, and Greece.

Since the coup that lead to the overthrow and death of Muammar Gadhafi in 2011, Libya has been trapped in political division and an escalating conflict between two rival governments with their own armies.
