World leaders mourn passing of Vietnamese Party General Secretary

(VOVWORLD) - Upon learning of the passing of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, leaders of countries; ruling, communist, partner parties; international organizations and overseas Vietnamese (OV) communities have sent heartfelt messages and letters of condolences to the CPV Central Committee, President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Vietnamese people and the family of the late leader.

In his message, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his profound respect for the Party General Secretary's vision of protecting strategic autonomy and promoting governance in Vietnam. He hoped that the late leader’s legacy would continue to inspire future generations in Vietnam and across Southeast Asia.

Chairman of the State Administration Council of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing said the General Secretary's leadership and contributions have left an indelible mark on the great history of Vietnam.

Expressing admiration, respect, and condolences to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Vietnamese community abroad, along with Vietnamese associations in Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Germany, and Macau (China), sent telegrams of condolences conveying their deep feelings and gratitude for the Party leader’s career, merits, and contributions to national development and defense and his dedication to overseas Vietnamese affairs.

Parliament of India (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) at their Session on Monday expressed deepest condolences to the people and leadership of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the passing away of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

In their messages of condolences, Senate President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Speaker of the House of Representatives Om Birla acknowledged General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's central role in Vietnam's progress and development, as well as his contributions to the India-Vietnam friendship and the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

According to an announcement of the US State Department on Monday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Vietnam to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
