World leaders offer condolences over Fidel Castro's death

(VOVworld)-World leaders have sent messages of condolences to Cuba over the death of revolutionary legend Fidel Castro.

US President Barack Obama said “history will record and judge” Fidel Castro's impact on the island nation and offered a “hand of friendship” to the Cuban people. US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed his deep condolences to the Cuban people, saying the US will continue to cooperate with Cuba after Fidel Castro passed away.

In a message of condolences to Cuban President Raul Castro on Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Fidel Castro as a strong and wise man, who always looked with confidence to the future. He said Fidel Castro will live forever in the hearts of Russians.
Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said Fidel Castro is a friend of Mexico who promoted bilateral ties based on mutual respect, dialogue, friendship and unity.
French President Francois Hollande expressed his deep condolences to the Cuban people for the great loss, saying that Fidel Catro was a towering figure of the 20^th century.
In a TV broadcast message, Chinese President Xi Jinping said Fidel is a great man of history and that history and people will always remember him.
Bolivia’s President Evo Morales said Castro “left us a legacy of having fought for the integration of the world’s peoples”.
The Philippines sent a message of condolences to the Cuban government and people and, praising the valuable contributions Fidel Castro made to the revolution in Latin countries.
Iranian spiritual leader Ali Khamenei expressed his respect to the Cuban leader, saying Fidel Castro, with his great personality, won the hearts of Cuban people.
Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent condolences to the Cuban government and people. From Vatican, Pope Francis expressed his condolences to the Cuban people for their great loss.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini spoke highly of the significant role of Fidel Castro in the history and affirmed that EU and Cuba relations will continue to grow.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Fidel Castro is a legendary revolutionary and orator, who made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation.
