(VOVWORLD) - Leaders from around the world have reacted to Joe Biden’s announcement that he is ending his campaign and backing Vice President Kamala Harris to run in his place.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that he respects President Biden’s decision and looks forward to working with him during the remainder of his presidency.
Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris praised Biden as a “voice for reason, effective multilateralism and shared solutions”.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wrote on X: “My friend @POTUS Joe Biden has achieved a lot: for his country, for Europe, for the world. Thanks to him, transatlantic cooperation is close, NATO is strong and the USA is a good and reliable partner for us. His decision not to run again deserves respect.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said "The election is still four months away. And it's a long time, during which a lot can change.”
