Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said there still remains inequality in trading between rich and poor countries. He called on the WTO to work out strategies and measures to narrow the trade gap between developed industrial countries and developing ones. Uhuru Kenyatta stressed the need to stimulate the economy and trade and remove trade barriers of some major markets and pay more attention to poor countries, especially those in Africa.
Participants hoped to agree on agricultural subsidy, exchanging environmental services and products and supporting least-developed countries. The conference is expected to commit 90 million USD to support initiatives to foster trade activities in poor countries in the period 2016-2022.
