(VOVWORLD) - 60 young overseas Vietnamese from 15 countries and territories are attending a 5‑day annual summer camp which opened in Ho Chi Minh city on Tuesday.
2023 summer camp participants come from the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, and Taiwan (China). (Source: HCM city's Party Committee) |
They will visit cultural and historical sites and participate in a volunteer campaign with their peers in the city. They also have scheduled environmental clean-up activities, sports exchanges, and a discussion on international integration.
“The participants will visit policy beneficiaries, repair kindergartens, provide scholarships to disadvantaged students, and teach English,” said Dinh Thi Phuong Thao, Vice Chairwoman of the Overseas Vietnamese Committee of HCM City and the chief organizer of the 2023 summer camp.
10th grader Nguyen Tuan Khang from Hungary is very excited to participate in the volunteer activities in Can Gio district.
“This gives me a closer look at Vietnam and the daily lives of the local people. When I return to Hungary, I’ll tell my friends about what I have done here and introduce Vietnam to them,” he said.
