(VOVWORLD) - Since its foundation on September 7, 1945, the Voice of Vietnam has over the past 8 decades strengthened its reputation as a national media brand, reaching out to the region and world. In the era of strong global integration, VOV has affirmed its role as a far-reaching channel, connecting Vietnam with friends across five continents. VOV has expanded partnerships with 51 radio stations, 17 broadcasting and television organizations, and many international NGOs around the world.

VOV Vice President Ngo Minh Hien said:  “VOV has collaborated with global partners to co-produce several radio programs. For example, we have worked with DW of Germany to produce long-form features. Most recently, we have expanded cooperation to South America and together with Argentinian Radio and Chilean Radio, we also have won the External Information Award with high-quality radio productions.”

VOV has expanded global presence through a wide network of overseas bureaus. Vice President Ngo Minh Hien said: “Over the last three decades, VOV has expanded its overseas network by establishing bureaus in key regions. Our correspondents are now present in France, the Czech Republic, Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Egypt, and the United States. We are now planning to extend our network to South America.”

VOV has also made its mark at prestigious international journalism awards.

Since 2009, VOV has proudly won 29 international media awards, including 14 prizes of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union. Mr. Hien said: “Over the past five years, VOV has been proud to have its reporters win prestigious international journalism awards. VOV’s growth has kept pace with the nation’s development and global integration.”

Behind each award is creativity and relentless effort by VOV’s journalists. Journalist Ba Duy of the Department of Culture, Society and Ethnic Affairs (VOV2), was once honored with an ABU Prize.

“Participating in international journalism awards gave me more than recognition. It was like a long journey where I could compare, learn, and reflect on myself. Each time, I learned new storytelling techniques from international colleagues,” said Ba Duy.

Reporter Ba Duy and other seniors have become mentors, encouraging younger colleagues to confidently bring their work to the global stage.

“When I work abroad, I’m proud to introduce myself as a reporter from the Voice of Vietnam. I’ve discovered fascinating aspects of different cultures and peoples. I’m happy to produce these stories through digital journalism. VOV’s reporters are always confident in working at home or abroad,” said a reporter at VOV.

“When working overseas, I always want to show that VOV’s journalist products meet the standards of international broadcasters. And I also want to share perspectives of Vietnamese journalists with others. We observe how our foreign colleagues work, learn from them valuable lessons, and adapt their methods in our own ways, not by copying, but by creating with our own style,” said a reporter at VOV.

The 80-year journey of the Voice of Vietnam is a story of resilience, innovation, and constant integration, ensuring that Vietnam’s voice continues to be heard loud and clear across five continents.
