Starting with Hanoi, HCMC, Da Nang, Can Tho and Hai Phong, the campaign has been expanded to 15 provinces nation wide.

In Hanoi 200 haemodialysis patients at Thanh Nhàn Hospital became the first beneficiaries, receiving 600 food packages over three days delivered by PepsiCo volunteers and members of the Vietnam Youth Union.

“We’re very thankful for the donors’ support. Poor patients like us would have suffered a lot without the community’s help, especially in this COVID-19 pandemic," said Nguyen Thi Sinh from Hanoi’s Ba Vi district, one of the beneficiaries.

Young people across Vietnam have responded enthusiastically to the campaign, helping ease life burdens of many less fortunate people. Many youth clubs have volunteered to deliver food and goods for free to people in need and those working at the frontline during the fight against COVID-19. Bùi Anh Phương, a member of Hanoi’s Pick-up truck club, told VOV: “Our club members always stand ready with 100 pick-up trucks to deliver free goods and food to people, students with difficulties, and doctors and nurses working on the frontline.”

Deputy Chairman of Vietnam Youth Federation Nguyen Kim Quy said that the “Millions of meals” campaign has yielded encouraging outcomes and is being expanded by young people across Vietnam.

"The Hanoi Pick-up truck club is a bright example in this effort. The club has encouraged individuals and organizations to donate for the campaign and is willing to provide pick-up trucks to deliver food and goods to those in need. Another example is the Volunteer Network in Vietnam’s Central Highlands whose members have cooked and prepared free meals for people in quarantine zones. I really hope that this campaign will continue to grow and help more people affected by the pandemic,” added Quy.

The campaign has been recognized as one of Vietnam’s 9 outstanding youth programs of 2020.
