VOV Traffic channel marks 10th anniversary

(VOVWORLD) - Since its first broadcast a decade ago, VOV traffic channel has proved to be a reliable and useful friend of road users and radio listeners. The channel not only provides up-to-date traffic information but also serves as a forum for authorities and the people to discuss pressing social issues.

Broadcasting on FM 91 MHz, VOV traffic channel has installed modern cameras, and established hotlines to connect with listeners and give around the clock news on traffic, current affairs, society and culture. The “Rush Hour” program - which broadcasts three times a day with traffic instructions, and regulations, as well as driving safety skills - has proved to be the most popular and interactive VOV show according to Head of the VOV Traffic Channel Trang Cong Tien.

“VOV Traffic Channel has attracted the community’s participation in solving social issues, especially traffic problems. With the contribution and interaction of millions of listeners together with advanced camera systems, the channel also covers news on different aspects of the society,” said Tien.

The program broadcasts live traffic information, weather forecasts, and traffic jam warnings produced by editors, reporters and a number of collaborators. It also provides a platform for people to raise their voices on burning issues to authorities.

“Over the last decade, VOV Traffic Information Channel has always been a companion with road users, authorities, especially the traffic sector and promoted the Party and State’s policies and guidelines on traffic safety. The channel also reflects people’s interaction and recommendations to help authorities adjust traffic regulations and policies,” said Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, who is also Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee.

In 2017, VOV Traffic was broadcast in the Mekong Delta with a new format, named Mekong FM 90 MHz. The channel soon becomes popular with practical programs featuring not only traffic but also current affairs, news and local music.

“Over the past 10 years, VOV Traffic Channel has well fulfilled its tasks to serve traffic sector and assure traffic safety. It is also a useful socio-economic news channel. In the context of developing technology and increasing news demand, VOV Traffic Channel needs to do more to create breakthrough in its programs to serve listeners,” said VOV President Nguyen The Ky.
