(VOVworld) – Outstanding fine art works selected by the Vietnam Fine Arts Association from 8 regional exhibitions nationwide are on display at the exhibition house, 16 Ngo Quyen street in Hanoi. The works are of a high artistic level showing the artists’ creativity and style. Many young artists have marked their personal identities in different artistic genres.
This year’s regional exhibitions attracted over 2,500 works by 1,900 artists. The Artistic Jury of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association selected 1,500 works to display in Hanoi. The 4 top winning works were a wood sculpture named “Quang Tri memory” by Cu Kao Khai, a lacquer painting “Me” by Tran Thi Thu, a sculpture show “Breeding season” by Thai Nhat Minh, and Uyen Huy’s research book featuring urban fine art found in Sai Gon –formerly Gia Dinh province.

Painter Vi Kien Thanh, Deputy Head of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, talks about the 4 wining works. “These works are impressive and creative and show the authors’ vigor in artistic creation. We have focused on creativity, graphic language and techniques to reflect contemporary themes.”
The book “Sai Gon-Gia Dinh urban fine art” is a collection of documents and images of the period up to 1975.
The “Quang Tri memory” installation work expresses young people’s thinking about the battle in Quang Tri ancient citadel in 1972. Artist Cu Kao Khai said he spent a year of hard work to produce this piece. “I want to tell the story of an artillery squad. The installation shows the soldiers’ targets and its results. I have combined the techniques of engraving village temples, sculpture, graphics, and drawing on a large scale.”

Painter and lecturer at the Tay Bac Culture and Fine Arts College, Tran Thi Thu, also spent one year on her work named “Me”. “The work shows my aspirations in all aspects of life. Painting is a visual art and people have different feelings. For me life is mixed feelings of happiness and sadness, and beauty.”
Thai Nhat Minh’s sculptures were inspired by the breeding season during which living creatures become enlivened and elated. “I want to keep the sensitive changes in feeling and nature in the breeding season. I worked on this program over 2 years. I used cardboard to create a natural and warm feeling.” Minh said.

The Vietnam Fine Arts Association have organized regional exhibitions over the last 19 years to give local artists an opportunity to introduce their products and narrow the gap between artists in the major cities and regions. Art critic Le Quoc Bao said: “Almost all the winning works since 2012 belonged to local artists. The exhibitions have promoted their works and acknowledged their capacity. The exhibition has been successful in encouraging local artists to create more.”
