(VOVworld) - The 2015 Nha Trang Sea Festival opened in Nha Trang city of the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on Saturday.

Nha Trang is considered the “2015 Destination”

State President Truong Tan Sang, Vice Chairwoman of National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, leaders of relevant ministries, departments, and crowded travelers at home and aboard attended in the opening ceremony.

Minister of Culture and Sport and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh said that the annual event is not only to promote tourism popularization of Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa to the world, but also to express love for Vietnam’s sea and island.

Minister Tuan Anh said: “Khanh Hoa should continue efficient and specific measures set by the government resolution on boosting Vietnam’s tourism development in the new period. Khanh Hoa should also implement the Prime Minister’s directive on strengthening state management with focus on overcoming shortcomings to develop tourism.”

The event which will run through Tuesday features over 50 cultural, arts, sports, and tourism activities. The highlights include a map and documentary exhibition “Spratly Islands belong to Vietnam - Historical and legal evidence”, national yacht racing, food festival, and street art performances.

Nha Trang is expected to attract about 150,000 visitors to the city on this occasion.

Beginning in 2003, the biannual festival is an opportunity for Khanh Hoa province to promote its economic, cultural, and tourism potential and call for more investment.
