(VOVworld) – Spokesman for the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry, Le Hai Binh, said about 1,550 Vietnamese citizens are working in Libya, mainly in non-violent areas.
Binh told reporters at a press conference on Thursday that the Vietnamese Foreign Minister has asked Vietnamese representative agencies in Libya and regional countries to closely follow the situation, cooperate with the local agencies, and contact with contracted enterprises to provide prompt support to ensure safety for Vietnamese in Libya.

Violence in Libya has escalated

Binh said: "As the situation in Libya becomes more complicated, the Vietnamese Embassy has maintained regular contacts with Vietnamese people there to update the situation to promptly support them. The Vietnamese Embassy has opened two hotlines and the Consulate of the Foreign Ministry has operated one hotline around the clock to assist Vietnamese citizens in Libya."
Spokesman Le Hai Binh informed reporters on major diplomatic affairs including the 47^th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and associated meetings in Naypitaw, Myanmar from August 5-10. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh will lead the Vietnamese delegation to the event.
