(VOVworld) -  Ben Tre province has opened a camping festival entitled “Heroic youth defend the fatherland”. Participants learned about the military service-related laws and played folk games.

On Saturday the Military High Command of Can Tho city organized a quiz on Vietnamese islands and sea and an exhibition on legendary General Vo Nguyen Giap. On display are 100 photos about the General’s life, career and his role as commander in chief of the Vietnam People’s Army. Colonel  Tran Hoa Hiep, Deputy Political Commissar of Can Tho Military High Command, says: “Through the quiz and exhibition, we hope that today’s younger generation will better understand national traditions, which our predecessors nurtured and preserved. As a result, they will feel more responsible for studying and contributing to the protection of our islands, sea and nation”.

The Military High Command of Da Nang city has hosted panel discussions, and cultural exchange programs , recalling the glorious traditions of the army. Colonel Trinh Ngoc Van, Political Commissar of Da Nang city’s border guard force, says: “We have given out gifts to the poor. We always help locals improve their livelihoods. The border guard force has coordinated with the district youth union to implement such activities”.

A ceremony to mark the founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army was held by the Vietnamese military attaché section in India on Saturday. Colonel Pham Thanh Luong, Vietnamese defense attaché to India, said defense is one of the 5 pillars of the Vietnam-India Strategic Partnership.
