(VOVworld)- The 87th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam made the headlines of major newspapers in Vietnam on Friday.

The People’s Newspaper ran a front-page article under a picture of President Ho Chi Minh and his words about Party building.
The article hailed the establishment of the Party in 1930 as a milestone of national salvation. It stressed the Party’s push up Party building and rectification work and prevent ideological, ethical, and lifestyle degradation and the phenomena of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” within the Party.

The People’s Army newspaper ran an editorial stating that the achievements the Party, people, and army have proven the firmness and intellect of a ruling Party which dares to expose its own weaknesses in order to correct them.

The article said new opportunities and challenges require the Party to improve continuously in order to lead the nation to parity with other countries around the globe.
Outstanding press works have been awarded with Golden Hammer and Sickle Prizes in a contest to promote Party building. 3 A prizes, 7 B prizes and 12 C prizes were announced in a ceremony in Hanoi on Friday. The works reflect Party building efforts in all regions and industries with profound impact on the audience.
Can Tho City on Friday hosted a gathering to honor more than 500 Party members on the occasion of the 87thanniversary of the Party. Nearly 1,000 Party members with their membership years from 30 to 70 years were granted medals. Representing the youth in the ceremony, student Nguyen Thi Mong Ngan from Can Tho Technology University, reveals her impression: “This is an opportunity to recall predecessors’ valuable tradition and contribution to today’s prosperity and happiness. This gives us more encouragement in our study for national development.”
