(VOVworld) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc Wednesday chaired the first meeting of the Central Steering Committee for setting up a pilot project model on urban administration. He stated that the pilot project is part of moves to implement the documents adopted at the 11^th National Party Congress on local administrations, and the instructions of the Party’s Central Secretariat to set up and submit the model to the government for approval within this year.

He added that as the 1992 Constitution is being amended, this work will be the foundation of the necessary adjustments to the Constitution’s articles on local authorities.

After their discussions, the delegates agreed on 2 models of urban administration. The first model is to divide urban administration into 3 administrative levels as it is now. This will clearly define the organizational model and operational mechanisms which are separate from rural administration. The second model can be formed by setting up a brand new model for urban administration with a one-representative level and two administrative levels.
