Draft law on special administrative-economic units reviewed
(VOVWORLD) -The National Assembly’s Ethnic Council has discussed the draft law on special administrative-economic units, reports on the Councils’ operations, and its oversight programs for 2019.
At a plenary session on Friday, deputy Phuong Thi Thanh Bac said local administrations of the special zones, including the People’s Council and the People’s Committee, should be streamlined to be more effective. But she added the permanent bodies of the People’s Council and the People’s Committee should be cautiously considered.
Commenting on the Ethnic Council’s performance, deputies said the Council has fulfilled its tasks of law building and providing consultations to the government. They agreed that the Council’s oversight should focus on the enforcement of laws and policies on socio-economic development investment, including the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction and social security in ethnic, mountainous, and border areas between 2009 and 2018.
