(VOVworld)-This year’s Ha Long Carnival opened last night, climaxing Ha Long Tourism Week.  The theme of this year’s carnival, directed by People’s Artist Le Tien Tho, is “Quang Ninh—Convergence and Diffusion”.

The event gathers some 4000 amateur and professional performers. Mr Le Tien Tho said: "We focus on major cultural highlights of the country and Quang Ninh province in particular. This includes culture and beliefs relating to the sea, the coal industry, and ethnic customs. This is to honor culture as a driving force for development".

This year’s Carnival – the forth – has been the biggest and most impressive one. Provincial party chief Pham Minh Chinh said: "We expect to receive more and more tourists to the province, so we must anticipate pressures in terms of infrastructure and tourism culture. We have called for a joint effort toward a more beautiful and glorious Ha Long."
