(VOVworld) - The Party and State give top priority to ensuring a well-fed and happy Tet or Lunar New Year holiday for every person, especially the unfortunate people and those who rendered great services to the nation. Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen made the remarks in an interview granted to VOV as the 2015 traditional lunar New Year approaches.

She said gift sets of cash and other items of necessity including food have been distributed to 560,000 people across Vietnam:
"The Prime Minister has approved 12 provinces’ proposal to allocate 10 tonnes of rice for people to enjoy the Tet holiday. We’ve asked local governments to speed up preparations to ensure Tet gifts reach the needy in time."
She added that various activities are taking place nationwide to present Tet gifts to social beneficiaries including poor and elderly people.
Representatives of Ho Chi Minh city’s former Youth volunteers visited and presented gifts to 10 families of invalids and martyrs to mark the occasion of the Lunar new year. Meanwhile, Tra Vinh provincial authorities presented Tet gifts to nearly 28,000 people, including heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the armed forces, war veterans, and families of invalid soldiers and martyrs.
Nearly 3,000 Tet gifts were also given to poor people in Yen Bai province. Another 6,000 gifts were also presented to policy beneficiaries. The localities have held various activities to assure a happy Tet for the people. Bui Van Thinh, Chairman of Luc Yen district’s People’s Committee, said: “We have asked communes and districts to check the number of poor households who need support. We provide support and present gifts to disadvantaged households to assure a happy Tet for everyone”.
The Steering Board of the Northwestern region also presented 200 gifts worth around 5,000 USD, to policy beneficiaries and poor households in two districts of Luc Yen and Yen Binh. Ho Thi Du from Ban Mu commune, Tram Tau district, said: “Everyone is happy when receiving Tet gifts. Thanks to your support, we will have a happy Tet”.
