(VOVworld) - The Culture and Tourism Week of Khau Vai love market festival opened on Saturday in Meo Vac district, in the northernmost province of Ha Giang. The love market takes place only once a year on the 27th of the third month of the lunar calendar. The love market originated as a meeting spot for men and women from ethnic groups such as the Mong, Dao, Tay , Nung, Giay, and Lo Lo, who loved each other, but could not marry. During the week-long festival, there will a rain praying ritual of the Lo Lo, a nightingale contest, a bull fighting, and a Khau Vai legendary art program. Tourists will also hear stories about the market's legend, watch performances, admire the clothing of ethnic groups as well as take part in traditional games.
