Meeting marks Vietnam – Cambodia diplomatic ties in Hanoi

(VOVworld) – A meeting to mark 45th anniversary of Vietnam – Cambodia diplomatic ties took place on Sunday in Hanoi with leaders, organizations, embassies and students of the two countries participating.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said Vietnam and Cambodia established ties on June 24th, 1967, which opened a new page for friendship between neighboring countries: "Over the past 45 years, Vietnam and Cambodia have stood side by side and supported each other in resistance wars against imperialists for national independence and toppling genocidal regime. In the peace time, the two countries continue to assist each other in national construction and defence".
Meanwhile, Sim Vanna, Cambodia's Secretary of State at the Council Ministers affirmed that Cambodia has always been grateful to Vietnamese State, Party and people for their great support in Cambodia’s liberation cause in 1979. He also spoke highly of Vietnam’s investment in Cambodia which makes great contribution to Cambodia’s development: "Beside politics, cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia in economics and trade have been promoted. Vietnam’s investment in Cambodia has increased to 1.4 billion USD from 500 million USD in 2009. Two-way trade turnover has nearly doubled compared to 2007 and reached 2 billion USD last year. The two countries also showed their determination to bring bilateral trade to 5 billion USD in 5 years".
