This year, the award ceremony was held in Dubaithe United Arab Emirates (UAE) last Friday. The titles re-affirmed Moc Chau’s influence and position in tourism and the recognition of the international community for the highland region, and have had measurable impacts on the development of tourism. Moc Chau welcomed nearly 1.6 million international tourists in 2022, and is expected to welcome 2.4 million international arrivals this year.

Moc Chau’s local authority is working to live up to its titles, towards being recognized as a national tourism site by 2025. It is pursuing a tourism development strategy based on preserving the sites’ natural landscapes and unique and original characteristics, thereby attracting more tourists while avoiding too fast growth.

Chairman of Moc Chau District People’s Committee, Le Trong Binh, said "Moc Chau is working to preserve its tea plantations and grasslands. Forests are protected and preserved according to plans, to maintain the local natural landscape. In developing community-based, agricultural, and nature tourism, environmentally friendly materials associated with ethnic cultural identities will be a priority and a highlight of the district.”

With a principle of “tourism and agriculture supporting one another”, Moc Chau has developed many agricultural tourism and eco-tourism models and held activities including harvesting and processing at strawberry farms, tea plantations, dairy farms, plum and persimmon orchards.
