Muong Lo Culture-Tourism Week opens

(VOVWORLD) - The Muong Lo Culture-Tourism Week opened in the northwestern mountain province of Yen Bai on Friday with an art program using beautiful choreography and state-of-the-art stage effects.

A highlight was a massive “Xoe” dance involving 5,000 local ethnic people. Xoe is a traditional dance of the Thai ethnic group in Vietnam’s northern region, which depicts their daily lives and their wish for a peaceful and prosperous life.

Hoang Thi Hong Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the People Committee of Nghia Lo township – the venue of the massive “Xoe” dance, said: “First, our dancers perform in shapes that describe the unique culture of Vietnam’s northwestern region, especially west of Yen Bai province. Second, we invite dancers not only from Nghia Lo township but also from neighboring communes.”

The Muong Lo Culture-Tourism Week include the Mu Cang Chai Terraced Field Festival, a street parade, a fair promoting the landscapes and cuisine of northwestern localities, a photo exhibit introducing Yen Bai’s landscapes and local lives, a ceremony to receive of recognition of a tea tree as a national heritage tree, adventure tours, and notably, a paragliding festival at Khau Pha pass in Mu Cang Chai.

The Muong Lo Culture-Tourism Week will run until next Thursday.
