Quang Ninh thoroughly prepares to cope with typhoon Rammasun

(VOV) - Typhoon Rammasun made its first landfall in the northeastern border province of Quang Ninh early on Saturday, bringing gusty winds and heavy rain to coastal localities.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai inspected some affected areas in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province on Saturday morning. He urged the local authority to closely watch further developments and implement flood and storm prevention plans. So far, there has been no casualty.

The National Centre for Hydro-meteorological forecast said after hitting the mainland, typhoon Rammansun will continue to travel inland at high intensity. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Van Thang urged northern mountain provinces to prepare for flash flood and landslides caused by the typhoon. “We have to prepare for the typhoon’s consequences when it travels inland. The northern mountain provinces need to update information to have prompt measures. The northern border guards and army units must prepare to support people in emergency cases.”
