Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh addressed the event: “I’m moved with the kindness of blood donors, who have donated blood many times, joined the “Blood Bank”, and encouraged others to donate blood. When the media reported on blood shortage at hospitals nationwide, thousands of people came to hospitals and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to give their blood for patients in need. Their noble acts are respectful and honored because it illustrated their sentiment and responsibility to sick people and society.”
Over the last 20 years, blood donation campaigns have attracted tens of thousands of people. In 2017 over 1.2 million units of blood were donated, meeting 70% of treatment demand.
The Red Sunday Festival was held in Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
