The latest research of the project “Dioxin treatment in seriously polluted sites in Vietnam” conducted on the area around Bien Hoa airport and ponds inside the airport last year recorded newly-polluted sites exceeding accepted levels.
Head of the Steering Committee 33 Le Ke Son said:
“We’ll work with the US side to make a comprehensive environment evaluation in Bien Hoa. Then the two governments will promptly decide to thoroughly deal with dioxin levels in the airport. We have completely banned aquaculture and husbandry activities around the airport because of higher levels of pollution.”
Steering Committee 33 will hand the research statistics over to the Ministry of Defense to finalize a plan on dioxin contamination treatment in the airport which also includes a land use plan.
