Results of the population and housing census 2019 announced
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam had a total population of over 96.2 million people as of April 1, 2019, according to the population and housing census that was announced at a conference in Hanoi on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, Director of the General Statistics Office, Vuong Bich Lam, spoke of the census updates: “Population data in urban areas and information about households without have been updated. Vietnam is the 3rd largest populous country in Southeast Asia and the 15th in the world and is facing with rapid aging. However, we are still in golden time as one every one dependent person there are two at working age.”
Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said “We should publicise analysis of these data to make statistics speak up to facilitate management. Data protection should have back up alternatives and reveal solutions to move from mid-income to high income level.”
