Statue of President Ho Chi Minh erected in Milan, Italia

(VOVworld) – A ceremony to unveil a statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the Italian city of Milan was held  on Tuesday. The statue was erected at the Antica Trattoria della Pesa restaurant where President Ho Chi Minh used to live and work in the 1930s after he left Paris for Milan.

Vietnam’s ambassador to Italy Dang Khanh Thoai said that the statue is a gift from Vietnam to Milan. Placing the statue at Antica Trattoria della Pesa is significant as it will remind people of President Ho Chi Minh’s time overseas looking for a path to national salvation. The restaurant has now become a popular destination for many delegations and Vietnamese people when they visit Milan. The ambassador said he hoped that the Italian people will continue to support Vietnam and promote the friendly relationship that exists between the two countries.

The Chairman of the Italian – Vietnamese Friendship Association in Milan, Roberto Cocevari and Vietnam’s Honorary Consul, Sandra Scagliotti, said they were very moved when attending the event. Mr. Cocevari stressed that it is great honor for Italy and Milan, as it was where the President used to live and work.
