(VOVworld)-The Ministry of Science and Technology held a convention on strategy to develop science and technology for the period between 2011 to 2020.  Participating  in the convention were Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and nearly 400 scientists and business people. Addressing the convention, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan stressed the Government’s determination to increase awareness of science and technology. The period between 2011-2020 is bringing great opportunities for science to make technological breakthroughs that will greatly benefit economic progress. Mr Nhan said: “Central Resolution 6 again suggested that the field of science and technology  have not been prioritized in national policy, and the role of science and technology was not well-understood. It is now time for the difficulties in these areas to be fundamentally addressed. We have set a target to complete all the preliminaries necessary to renewing our energies in these fields.”

Nguyen Hoang Quan, Minister of Science and Technology stressed that the strategy for developing science and technology in the period from 2011 to 2020 clearly defined the goal as being to improve Vietnam’s scientific and technological expertise, and contributing actively to national socio-economic development.
