Addressing the meeting on Wednesday, the Prime Minister called on scientists, managers, and business people to contribute to building Vietnamese rice trademarks: “We should build strong Vietnamese rice trademarks and ensure food safety. Without a trademark, the product value will be low despite higher output.”

Mr. Phuc applauded the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for their incentives to encourage businesses to invest rice production. He suggested mid-term and long-term loans with preferential interest rates for rice producers and exporters.

A representative from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development stressed the need to reform the Vietnam Food Association. The Ministry of Industry and Trade called for enhanced rice quality and food security. It proposed measures to build Vietnamese rice trademarks and adopt a set of quality standards for Vietnamese rice in line with international standards.
