(VOVworld) – People and soldiers on Ly Son island, Quang Ngai province, held a flag salute ceremony on the first day of the new lunar year. Leaders of Ly Son island district called for greater efforts to enhance the revolutionary tradition and unity to achieve socio-economic targets and maintain political stability, national defense, and security.

New year celebrations were held across Vietnam on Tuesday. In Hanoi, thousands of people flocked to areas where art performances and firework displays were held. Ngo Ngoc Dien of Ba Dinh district said: “I wish a new year of health, happiness, and good luck to my family. I hope that in the new year I will earn more income to support my family.”

Major streets in HCM city were decorated with colorful flowers and recreational centers were packed with visitors. Firework displays were held in 8 places in the city.

Joyful Tet celebrations were also held in Dien Bien, Yen Bai, Bac Ninh, Phu Yen, Dong Thap, Can Tho, and Soc Trang province with a great number of entertaining activities and performances.
