Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung recalled Hanoi’s achievements since its Liberation Day on October 10, 1954. Associate Professor and Doctor Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy of the University of Transport, is one the recipients of the title outstanding citizens of Hanoi. She said, “Although I retired in 2013, I as Associate Professor continue to work for my University until 2020. This is an opportunity for me to contribute my small part to the development of the transport sector. I train young people to develop what I am doing. The young people should study and work harder to catch up with the 4^th industrial revolution.”

The oldest outstanding citizen of Hanoi is photographer Le Vuong, who has captured the capital city’s life, landscape, and people, while the youngest honoree is athlete Duong Thuy Vi, who has won several gold medals for Vietnam's wushu team at international competitions.
