Supporting bomb and mine survivors

(VOVworld)- The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs says Vietnam’s National Master Plan on Supporting Bomb and Mine Survivors will be implemented until 2020 aiming to help the survivors integrate into the community. The plan focuses on functional rehabilitation for survivors, provides them with livelihood support, credits, vocational training, and jobs, and improves capacity for assistants. Deputy Director of the Social Support Department of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs To Duc stressed the importance of mobilizing community support for bomb and mine survivors: “It’s important to strengthen coordination between sectors and agencies, and mobilize the public to support bomb and mine victims. We also need to integrate support activities into local social security programs”.

Since 1975, 40,000 people have died and 60,000 injured due to unexploded ordinances left over from the war.
