Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Head of Vietnam's Permanent Mission to the UN, made the remark at the UN Security Council Open Debate on “Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Strengthening Multilateralism and the Role of the United Nations" on Friday. To make the multilateral system more effective, Ambassador Quy called on all Member States to take concrete measures to preserve the rules-based international order in which all matters are dealt with in a fair, just and equal manner. He added that multilateral mechanisms, first and foremost the United Nations, must also change to be more effective, more transparent and more accountable to Member States and all peoples. In that regard, Vietnam supported swift implementation of the reform initiatives put forth by the Secretary-General and will continue to strive for a peaceful, prosperous, sustainable and equitable world as a committed member of the United Nations.
