Vietnam responds to World No Tobacco Day
(VOVworld) – On Sunday, Vietnam Women’s Union and the Ministry of Health launched a campaign themed “Building Non-Smoking Families” to respond to the World No Tobacco Day and the National No Tobacco Week (May 25-31).

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh said the Party and State always pay attention to public health care. The National Assembly has promulgated Tobacco Harm Prevention Law and completed relevant legal documents: “The Party Committees of all levels and authorities are required to launch practical activities to effectively implement the National Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms Program. Everyone should join hands to have a better life and help develop Vietnam into a prosperous, democratic and civilized country”.
According to the World Health Organization, tobacco kills 6 million people all over the world each year. Vietnam has about 15 million smokers and is one of the 15 countries that have the largest number of smokers in the world.
