Themed “Today’s saving-Tomorrow’s brightness”, the week, the first of kind in Vietnam, targets women, children, pupils, and students, who play important roles in savings movements. Addressing the ceremony, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan called on every citizen to live a simple, economical life for a brighter future. He pointed out Vietnam’s urgent demand of practising thrift and fighting waste:     “If each restaurant in urban areas and each party has one less bottle of beer or wine, we will avoid waste. We also avoid discarding used items. Corruption is one of a terrible form of waste. I hope that we should resolutely say no to waste and corruption for our country, families, and ourselves.”

Mr. Nhan called on ministries and organizations, including the Vietnam Women’s Union to practise thrift for a better future. Organizers gave out 28 saving books to poor students of the Vietnam Women’s Academy and Banking Academy of Vietnam.
