(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has announced a nationwide opinion poll on revisions to the Civil Code. On Monday, the Ministry of Justice and the Government Office held a meeting to announce the Government plan to collect public opinions on draft revisions to the Civil Code. In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stressed the importance of the Civil Code to people’s lives. He asked ministries, sectors and localities to be serious, transparent and thrifty in collecting opinions on the revised Civil Code: “The government asks all ministries, ministerial agencies, and municipal and provincial people’s committees to respond to the resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the government plan to collect public opinions on draft revisions to the Civil Code. Because judicial agencies will directly implement the Code, the Court and the Prosecution need to collect their staff’s opinions on this draft”.

The poll will be conducted from January 5 to April 5.Opinions should focus on general regulations, the right of citizens to own houses and other property, duties and contracts, inheritance, civil relationships with foreigners, execution terms, and techniques to present regulations of the civil code. Ministries, ministerial agencies, and Government-run agencies are requested to collect feedback and recommendations in various forms, including by holding workshops and conferences. The draft revisions will be published in the Nhan Dan newspaper and on the websites of the NA, the Ministry of Justice and the Government. The Ministry of Justice will summarize the opinions and submit a report to the Government before April 25.
