(VOVworld) – Activities are being held inside and outside Vietnam to mark the 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

A meeting and parade to mark the 70th anniversary of August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2) will take place from 7 a.m. on September 2, 2015.

Radio the Voice of Vietnam made a special broadcast on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring a recitation of the Declaration of Independence attended by former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan, historian Duong Trung Quoc, Professor Vu Minh Giang, Major-General Le Van Cuong, and poet Hong Thanh Quang.

VOV also hosted a special concert in Hanoi on Monday with songs reminding the audience of a time when masses of Vietnamese people joined the resistance war in response to an appeal by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh. The show reviewed Vietnam’s most glorious historical periods. The songs performed at the event illustrated milestones in Vietnam’s music. Most of the songs were written and recorded at VOV.

The same day, a banquet was held for foreign diplomats in Ho Chi Minh City. Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan said that over the last 70 years, Vietnamese people have overcome numerous difficulties and challenges and many sacrificed their lives to reunify the nation and turn it into a more beautiful and prosperous country. Vietnam is an active participant in international integration and a reliable partner and responsible member of the international community.

At a celebration in Beijing on this occasion, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Tho said Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Party in line with their will to national independence, and their love of peace have fought for independence, freedom, and national reunification. Their spirit has been upheld in the current renewal process, helping Vietnam gain major successes.

Diplomatically, Vietnam is eager to be a friend and trustworthy partner of all countries on the basis of friendship, cooperation, and mutual development. Vietnam persistently pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation, diversification of international relations, and global integration.

Tho reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of developing stable, healthy, and long-term relations with China, considering it one of the top priorities in Vietnam’s foreign policy.

The Lao Ambassador to Russia came to the Vietnamese Embassy in Moscow to congratulate the staff on Vietnam’s National Day. At their meeting Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Son said the solidarity between Vietnam and Laos will continue to grow.

Mr. Son said that “the development process between Vietnam and Laos is closely linked to the growth of their traditional friendship. I think the ties grew more strongly during the joint struggle to protect the independence and sovereignty of each nation. The bilateral friendship has been realized via specific activities. The two embassies have set up a fine relationship and on this occasion embassy staff will strictly cooperate with each other to elevate the status of Vietnam and Laos in ASEAN and in the international arena.”

The Vietnam Veterans Association of Berlin-Brandenburg held a meeting last Sunday at which Ambassador Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh said he hopes veterans will continue to contribute to building a strong and united community of Vietnamese in Germany.
