India, Indonesia call for peaceful solutions to East Sea disputes

(VOVworld) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have underlined the need for freedom of navigation and closer maritime cooperation.

At a meeting in New Delhi on Monday during President Widodo’s 2-day visit, the two leaders emphasized the importance of further consolidating their security and defense cooperation as strategic partners and maritime neighbours. They also stressed the importance of resolving disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means, in accordance with universally recognized principles of international law.

Mr.Widodo will leave India on Wednesday for an Iran visit.
