(VOVWORLD) - The 3-day Nghinh Ong (Whale Worshiping) Festival returned to Kien Hai District in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.

The event, starting Monday, calls on businesses and visitors to work with the locality to build, protect, and preserve the local tradition while promoting tourism.
The annual festival is celebrated with festivities including various rituals to worship the Whale or Ca Ong, and prayers for good seas, happiness, and prosperity. Art performances, workshops displaying photos and documents on seas and islands also took place.
