Spring arrives on Coast Guard vessel 4031
(VOVWORLD) - While most people return home for the lunar New Year festival or Tet, soldiers and staff on patrol vessel 4031 of Coast Guard Region 3 are ready to stay onboard around the clock during the holiday to ensure national maritime safety and security.
With 14 years working for Vietnam Coast Guard, Lieutenant Nguyen Sy Thanh of patrol vessel 4031 has welcomed the lunar New Year at sea and on islands hundreds of nautical miles away from the mainland over the past six years.
Thanh told VOV, "The pandemic plus a tight working schedule has kept me away from home for quite sometime. I promised with my family that I’ll visit home as soon as I finish this duty. I hope they will have a joyful Tet."
Preparations are ready for Tet on patrol vessel 4031 with sticky rice cakes, pork paste, and trays of fruit. Peach and apricot flowers are also available on board.
For young Lieutenant Nguyễn Ngọc Thương, this will be the first time he welcomes the lunar New Year at sea while fulfilling his duties.
"Although our job is not easy, we encourage each other to do our best to fulfill all the assigned tasks. Adequate preparations for Tet have somehow eased our homesickness", he said.
