Iran and Israel exchange fresh airstrikes as tensions escalate

(VOVWORLD) - Iran on Monday morning launched a new series of missiles toward targets in Israel, including Tel Aviv and Haifa, in retaliation for joint military actions by Israel and the US.

The strikes marked the first air raids since Iran’s Assembly of Experts announced in a statement that Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Ali Khamenei, had been selected as Iran's new supreme leader.

Gulf nations also recorded new attacks amid Iran's intensifying retaliatory strikes on Monday morning. Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said its forces intercepted a missile attack.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense said its air defense systems intercepted multiple missile and drone attacks targeting the country, while a drone strike hit fuel storage tanks at Kuwait International Airport.

The Israeli armed forces carried out a new wave of airstrikes targeting infrastructure in central Iran.
