(VOVworld) - “Dien Bien Phu Victory – the Strength of Vietnam in the Ho Chi Minh era” is the theme of a symposium that will take place in Dien Bien province next week to mark the 60^th anniversary of the victory on May 7^th.
The event will highlight the significance of the great victory, and the lessons learned from it, helping Vietnamese people better their understanding of Vietnam’s tradition of self-reliance and patriotism.
The sound and creative people-based war strategy designed by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh will be also spotlighted. The event will cover issues relating to the French colonialists’ war policy, the US intervention into the 1953 – 1954 Winter-Spring campaign, and the construction of the Dien Bien Phu fortifications. It will also discuss the role and contributions of the armed forces and people across the nation, especially Dien Bien residents, to the victory, which helped end the nation’s nine-year war of resistance against the French colonialists.
