Da Nang received top marks in three key categories – smart governance, innovative start-up attractiveness, and green environment – rewarding the city’s efforts to build a people-centered smart city model that integrates advanced digital technologies into urban management.

Da Nang was the first locality in Vietnam to adopt a specialized resolution and a digital transformation scheme through 2025, with a vision to 2030. The city now has 25 semiconductor companies and has attracted a significant number of major technology corporations. By 2030, it aims to complete its smart city development and fully establish a digital government, with the digital economy accounting for 35-40% of its GRDP.

Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology, said: “We’re promoting the application of new technologies in smart urban management, healthcare, education, logistics, and tourism. Da Nang is developing a National Innovation Center branch and an AI testing center at our High-Tech Park to build a sustainable ecosystem of talent, science, technology, and innovation, making the city a leading hub for growth and start-ups nationwide.”

Da Nang is leading the country in integrating artificial intelligence into public administration, digital services, and its innovation ecosystem. The city has developed a suite of platforms for governance, including its Smart City Operations Center, big data analytics systems, and AI-powered traffic, environment, and security monitoring. These tools have improved administrative efficiency, shortened public service delivery times, and strengthened forecasting and early-warning capabilities in multiple sectors.

Nguyen Van Quoc, Director of Da Nang’s Intelligent Operations Center (IOC), said: “The IOC aggregates data from all digital sources across the city. It serves as the hub for collecting and analyzing data to generate new value and enhance proactive state management. Through platforms such as the Danang Smart City app, Zalo, the 1022 hotline, and the city’s digital communication channels, we’re able to interact more effectively with citizens and improve service delivery.”
