EU reforms organization to deal with new challenges
(VOVWORLD) -The recent EU summit in Brussels, Belgium, discussed the Leader’s Agenda for the bloc for the next two years, an agenda of reform to handle new challenges.

President of the European Council Donald Tusk proposed his Leaders’ Agenda for the next two years. With Britain exiting, EU leaders are seeking to weather the crisis with a united and strong EU through comprehensive reform and compensating actions. The 27 EU leaders promised to start internal preparations for a transition period and revamped ties with Britain. The EU intends to take a positive, constructive approach to negotiations with Britain.
Regarding Turkey’s membership negotiations, the EU has earmarked billions of euros to help Turkey reform from 2014 to 2020, but firmly refuses to intervene in Spain’s Catalonia standoff. With regard to the Iran nuclear deal and the US’s threatened withdrawal, EU leaders embraced the deal in the interest of Europe’s security. They underscored the need to protect firms and investors, who are doing business with Iran from any negative impact if Washington resumes reimposes sanctions on Iran.
They discussed the challenges and opportunities of digital technology, the growth of digital markets, a shared tax database, and a shared approach to cyber security.
