National solidarity strengthened to enter a new era of national rise

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is welcoming 1,000 overseas Vietnamese from 40 countries and territories for the 2025 Homeland Spring Program. This annual Lunar New Tear (Tet) tradition underscores the enduring value of national solidarity, upholding the Vietnamese diaspora as an inseparable part of Vietnam’s successes and challenges. In the new era of national rise, this spirit of unity is being further strengthened.

History has shown that fostering national solidarity, uniting Vietnamese people at home and abroad, has been a cornerstone of Vietnam’s significant achievements.

Overseas Vietnamese are integral to the nation

The 6 million Vietnamese living and working in 130 countries and territories play a vital role in the homeland’s development. In the past year, despite challenges, economic difficulties, natural disasters, and instability in conflict-hit regions, they have excelled in their resident countries, even earning global recognition for their contributions.

There are many stories of community spirit, solidarity, and mutual support among  Vietnamese expatriates who, despite difficulties, still turn their heart to the homeland. During the devastating storm Yagi last September, the overseas Vietnamese community rallied to provide support, demonstrating their deep patriotism, loyalty, and commitment to national unity.

The devotion and contributions of overseas Vietnamese to the homeland are deeply appreciated by Party and State leaders and reflect Vietnam’s policy of considering the Vietnamese diaspora an integral part of the nation.

President Luong Cuong said: “It’s our consistent policy. Vietnam’s significant achievements are attributable in large part to the contributions of overseas Vietnamese. The strength of great national unity is the foundation of Vietnam’s glorious victories.”

Uniting efforts to strengthen national unity

Vietnam’s leadership is determined to propel the nation into an era of national rise, aiming to make Vietnam a prosperous, strong, democratic, equitable, and civilized country on par with other powerful countries where every Vietnamese person enjoys a wealthy, happy life and receives support to develop and prosper to further contribute to peace, stability, and development in the world, to the happiness of humanity, and to global civilization.

To seize opportunities and usher in a new era, the Party and State of Vietnam value the contributions of the Vietnamese community worldwide.

Party General Secretary To Lam said: “Recognizing the importance of fostering community connections, Vietnam will continue to create the best conditions for overseas Vietnamese associations and organizations to operate more effectively, enabling Vietnamese abroad to have more opportunities in the homeland. Special attention will be given to the younger generation—those of Vietnamese descent who have access to advanced global knowledge. Vietnam aspires to nurture their entrepreneurial and creative spirit, foster a lasting connection to their homeland, and encourage their contributions to sustainable national development.”

The Politburo recently adopted a resolution on advancing science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. The resolution outlines key policies to attract talent and build a robust network of domestic and international experts and scientists, inviting them to contribute their expertise to important national programs and projects.

At a meeting with a delegation of overseas Vietnamese on Saturday, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said: "We hope the overseas Vietnamese community will continue to contribute their experience and intellect to building the homeland. The community will remain a vital bridge, strengthening connections between Vietnam and other countries. This bridge spans diverse areas such as the transfer of science and technology to support national development."

Vietnam is consistently fine-tuning policies to create favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to return home, live, invest, collaborate, and contribute to the homeland. Regulations related to investment, nationality, housing, and immigration are being refined to be more open, flexible, and practical.

At this historic juncture, mobilizing the strength of national unity and pooling resources domestically and internationally is crucial, enabling Vietnam to leverage opportunities and advantages for comprehensive, robust development.
