Vietnam received 41,700 foreign visitors in March 2022, an increase of 41% against February. In the first quarter the number was 91,000 visitors, an increase of 89% against the same period last year. The most searched destinations are Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Hue, Da Lat, Vung Tau, and Ha Long Bay. They are Vietnam’s most famous tourist destinations.

Earlier this month, Ho Chi Minh City received a delegation of 130 foreign tourists, mostly American businesspeople coming to Vietnam for the first time. They travelled Hanoi, Ha Long, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Southwestern region.

Nancy LeSage, a member of the delegation, said: “I feel very safe here. I'm not afraid of Covid and this is a beautiful place. I am so happy to be here. I plan to tell as many people as I can and show the photos. I’ve shared some photos on social media already and people are so happy to see my photos. I definitely want to come back and explore more.”

Da Nang’s Tourism Department received over 300 visitors from Singapore and Thailand. The city has resumed international flights after two years of suspension and targets to resume all international flights next year to the pre-pandemic level.

Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Dierctor of the municipal Tourism Department, said: “Our top concern is to ensure safety for tourists amid the pandemic. We have offered promotional programs and added values. Businesses have diversified tourism products. The city has helped investors resolve obstacles in new tourism projects.”

Analytical data from Google Destination Insights show that in the first quarter, the number of international searches about Vietnam was in an upward trend, ranking in the world’s top growth of 75%. The Vietnamese tourism sector aims to welcome 65 million tourists this year, including 5 million foreigners. Revenue from tourism is estimated at 17.5 billion USD.
