Whole country supports Ho Chi Minh City in fighting COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - Ho Chi Minh City has received support from localities nationwide to give it more resources to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s been a huge encouragement for Ho Chi Minh City’s authorities and people.

Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Da Nang city People’s Committee, said Da Nang has experienced a strong COVID-19 outbreak and its residents understand the difficulties Ho Chi Minh city is facing right now. Da Nang city has donated 430,000 USD to Ho Chi Minh city.

“We have been severely affected by the pandemic and are continuing the fight. Seeing the complicated situation in Ho Chi Minh city, we want to share their burden,” Chinh said.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Ho Chi Minh branch says that since June it has received donations from cities and provinces. Hai Phong city gave 430,000 USD, Quang Nam province 87,000, Quang Tri 22,000, Tay Ninh 43,000, and Ben Tre 22,000, and thousands of tons of agricultural products and foodstuff have arrived from Vinh Long, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, and Dong Thap province.

Many localities have organized events to raise money to support Ho Chi Minh city’s soldiers, medical workers, and residents.

Tran Thi Chuc Quynh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Lam Dong province, said they have sent 200 tons of agricultural products to Ho Chi Minh city. “We have seen news stories about the hard life of people in Ho Chi Minh city. The provincial Youth Union and other social organizations have sent agricultural products to Ho Chi Minh city. We wish them good health and good luck in containing the pandemic.”

Many individuals, businesses, and charity organizations have donated and organized humanitarian activities to help Ho Chi Minh city. Ho Chi Minh City has always led the country in construction and development. Now the country will stand with Ho Chi Minh City to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic.
